From Tragedy to Triumph: Blest’s Journey for Healing Through Hip-Hop
In the fast-moving landscape of hip-hop, BLEST stands out not only with his music but also because of his deep commitment to inspire and motivate his fans. Born in 1997, in Oceanside, California, BLEST is more than just a songwriter or artist; he wishes to be a symbol of hope in a generation plagued by struggles with mental health, substance abuse, and even suicide.
The catalyst for BLEST's mission was a personal tragedy. In 2017, his life took a devastating turn when his brother, in a battle with paranoid schizophrenia, took his own life. This loss plunged BLEST into a spiral of chronic depression and xanax addiction, a battle that reached its peak when his mother found him seizing on his bedroom floor. It was a wake-up call that set him on a transformative path to rehabilitation and recovery.
Two years into sobriety, BLEST faced another life-threatening challenge – a severe bacterial infection he contracted while working as a butcher, which left him with only a 10% chance to live. After seven surgeries, his survival was nothing short of a miracle, which ignited his resolve to make a change in the world by inspiring the youth.
BLEST's music and advocacy are fueled by his personal tribulations and the painful loss of his cousin, Drakeo the Ruler, who was killed during his own music festival. Determined to turn grief into action, BLEST is vocal about his mission to promote peace and love.
His most recent single “You Are Not Alone” is a reminder to his fans that no matter how alone they might feel, there are others who have g
